I guess it's good that some help is in the offing, but damn! Waiting until September or forfeiting necessary income seems so harsh. I know all of us are rooting for you to feel better RIGHT NOW! Hope you have a lovely time in RI. Catch a wave for me, okay? ~LA

September?! I'm keeping a good thought for you that you either get better or you win the lottery or something in the meantime. At least there's RI - have fun!

In the meanwhile, enjoy the beach and the salt air and crab cakes and "chowdah" and other good stuff.

IV therapy? What the heck are they putting in it? Something to knock you out? Why can't they get to the source?

The IV Therapy is an attempt to break the cycle of unremitting headaches. I don't know why they can't get to the source - that's a question I've asked many times, but there is no answer. Thanks for all the good wishes!

gosh steph i hate that you have to wait til september for your therapy! do you have to be inpatient so they can monitor you while on IV? i am on antibiotic IV therapy at home right now and have a PICC line. it's a 4 week course of IV antibiotics because of my surgery (got staph)...well you know, you read my blog, LOL. is this not an option for you? i used to take a blood pressure pill for my migraines...took it every day to prevent them. it worked well but i had too many side effects so now i take imitrex (orally and injectable). do they know at all what is causing the headaches? if it is vascular? thinking of you and hoping they can get to the bottom of this and fix it. i know how difficult horrible headaches can be so i empathize with you. email me if you have any questions or need anything...~zen

My mom took Depakote for an intractable headache -- be careful, it can really make you woozy. Mom cut her dose in half almost immediately so she could be alert! I'm glad, though, that you're getting at least a little bit of a vacation. Relax and enjoy it.

My mother took Depakote also, but for seizures. It is a strong one and used to make her really drowsy. Be sure and watch for that. I am so sorry you have to wait until September. I had a headache when I was 17-18 that lasted for a year. The doctor never did find out what it was and I ended up taking muscle relaxers of some sort. I don't remember now. It was a frustrating time (understatement). *hug*

Glad to hear somebody has a clue about a treatment plan, but it sucks about the timing, huh? The Universe...Mercury Retrograde...

Hope you have fun at the beach. I hope the new meds do help so you won't have to do the IV thing. Take care

i was just waiting for you to mention the condition that you are in again & as always so that i can tell you all about this little article i have saved for you just for the occasion. the article stated the praises of 400 mg of the b vitamin, riboflavin. the article claims that people who took the vitamin reduced the severity & number of headaches they had by 67% in 12 weeks. the way it works is that it relaxes blood vessels so that they are less prone to spasms. thats the desired effect on your poor aching head, relaxation & relief & it doesnt hurt to start the regimen while you wait for the more hazardous drug therapy that may have undesirable side effects. start today, who knows, maybe it will work before all that begins !

From what I read it is a hairy drug- but appropriate for your ailment. At least worth a try. Hope you can have a good time in RI.
