Happy Birthday! I am sure Daniel's family will love you. I would be nervous too though. That sort of situation is always a little stressful. Good luck and have fun.

Awww, you're just a kid, Steph! (Although I know I felt old at 52, as well, but now at 58, I feel positively mummified!) Have a super trip and a wonderfully happy birthday with your extended family. Hugs...

Happy Birthday! You look great! I remember when I met my husband's family for the first time. I was a nervous wreck, but it was all good once I got there. I'm sure you'll do fine. Hope your pain isn't too bad during your trip.

Happy birthday! Repeat after me: I am not old, I am not old, I am not old... after all, I'm younger than Bozoette, and she's not old! And Daniel's family will love you, I'm sure of it.

Eeeeek! Meeting the family! Gregarious thing that I am, even I fruit out a little over meeting distant family. When in doubt nod and smile. As for your birthday...YAY! Happy Birthday!!! No comment on the 'old' thing. Some days I feel 16 and others I feel 90. 'Old' is a state of being that comes and goes. 52 is a good number, though, very lucky. ~LA

Happy almost birthday. The 27th is also my baby brother's birthday -- he's eight years your senior -- my goodness, you're practically still jail bait!

Fifty-two is not old. (It's just a number -- or a hyphenated word, in this case). Therefore, you are not old. It's simple logic! But happy birthday anyway. Have a great visit.

My mother in law, Travis's stepmom, is not that much older than I am. I remember how odd that made me feel when I first met her. Well, I am sorry for leaving birthday wishes so late, but you know they're still as heartfelt as ever! xoxo

Happy belated birthday! No way you can be over 40! Hope you had a great trip to Toronto. One of my other readers/blogger friends lives in Toronto. Maybe your new in-laws are related to or friends with Amber Whitman of http://www.awtoronto.com/ ?

Dutchess County Fair -- haven't been there since I was a kid -- we used to go to Ulster County Fair & to Dutchess County Fair each summer. Ulster County Fair was not a bit extravaganza back then, no carnival rides, etc. -- Dutches County Fair was huge (or so my childhood memories recall) -- Mom would take my brother and me across the river on the Kingston-Rhinebeck ferry, grab a taxi to the fairgrounds, and then spend hours at the fair, coming home long after dark. There were four big summer events in my childhood life: those two county fairs, our annual day trip to New York City (partially funded by saving up loose change all year long), and the Feast of Saint Mary down at Kingston Point at summer's end.
