I just adore Ellie... does she have that "fur" that doesn't shed? Like a poodle? I'm pushing for a full sized "unclipped" poodle for our next dog but Paul says poodles are "fru-fru" dogs. They don't shed, and that's what I want. I thought I would get not so much shedding from our newest addition, Emma, being as how she's a "smooth coated" collie. Not so! In fact, her short straight furs are worse to pick up than Whitby's! I should have called our house "Fur Cottage" cuz that's what we've got the most of here...next to love for dogs! I must also look into that movie, thanks for the reminder.

Ellie is a cockapoo, and has hair instead of fur. That means she doesn't shed, which is exactly what I was looking for. Bowie, on the other hand, sheds like crazy. I've heard that smooth coated dogs are the worst shedders, and I guess your Emma proves it! She sure is a cutie, though, just like her big sister!

After our last two dogs we have just the cats and birds. When we married hub was a dog man, now he loves cats too. See you can teach an old dog new tricks. lol Yes it is hard to watch them age.

Heather and I sold our house and moved to an apartment not too long after I retired. No pets allowed. Of course in the town house pets were allowed, but those had two sets of stairs to navigate -- one of the reasons we moved to an apartment. And the last pet in our house was daughter's pet cat that had to be put to sleep. Now the duplex we rent allows no pets or smoking either. I manage to disguise the smoke that spews out from my color -- doesn't smell like tobacco anyway. I take my desire for a pet out on our son's dog Oakley -- and she won't be in this world much longer, she was his kids dog when they were very young. The desire is there, but doubt that at our age we would have a pet if it were permissible.

love the comment from bex about the name fur cottage, too cute, just like rebecca & the doggies. the story of bowie made me miss my gram, she had two different- colored eyes after an implant, i told her that was so cool, that she was just like david bowie because of that. she wanted to know who he was, lol. odd that you mentioned bowie, i just saw him on an infomercial last night. the infomercial was for a video about the midnight special. it had all the good rockers from back in the day. i was wanting to order it until i remembered that we dont have a vcr, lol, so there went that bright idea. so much for that. may bowie live to be as old as dear old gram did. i sure do miss her. not as much as you would bowie but i miss her all the same. kiddingly spoken about the sentiment of who would miss who the most, kiddingly taken, im sure. hugs, debbie

I give the book a B+ and the movie a B- (which isn't bad, considering they wrote out one of my favorite characters, the sassy teenage girl).

It was nice to see Bowie again. He looks well for a 12 year old! I know how it pains to see a dog start to show his age especially when he was always such vibrant puppy. I just lost "Fred" about 3 weeks ago to heart disease. He was 7. I'm just now able to talk about him without falling apart. I miss him terribly.

I haven't mentioned it but I like the knew site. The puppy photos are wonderful. Our fur babies are so special as are our human babies.
