I hope tonight you will get good news while you are greeting the gremlins at your door.

You're so good. Much better than I. As you can see by my journal tonight, we are closed to the trick-or-treaters - and have been for a few years. We hardly get anyone here anyway as we are out of the way and off the beaten path, and I always always always eat the leftover candy... besides, I'm so swamped with work tonight I'll be typing as soon as dinner is over for the whole evening. Prayers are still going up for you and your family, Steph.

That's a brave and good thing to do, Stephanie.

You're a better person than I am (please take the compliment!). I would've turned the lights off and holed myself up, just staring at the TV until whenever. It is fun to see the kids (and laugh at the not-so-kids) with their costumes and remember your own days of trick or treating.

I am glad you opened your door, sometimes seeing children can help make things feel a little better. We live so far out no one comes to our house and we have to take my grandson in town so he can go. In fact we just got home. it was fun. I am still sending prayers your way and thinking of you.

We're going to an AA meeting - my husband is speaking. I just don't have the heart to hang around without Roo. I'm here now, if the doorbell rings, and I'll be here late if it rings. There's candy if anyone comes. We saw three or four teenyboppers (is that still a word), very cute, standing on the corner like mini-streetwalkers, doing a dance routine. Just hanging out, not making trouble, just being cute. Made Mom and me both smile and wave. I keep praying they will find your brother, wandering and amnesic. (is THAT a word?) Please, God...

I check your page every day to see if you have had word of your brother. I heard this on Good Morning America this mornig and immediately thought of you. I am praying that your brother is found soon. Oct. 31, 2006 After missing for almost three weeks, Joe Bieger, a Texas football coach, is now back at home, having suffered from amnesia. After mysteriously vanishing one morning, he suddenly turned up Monday. "Thank you. Thank you, to everyone that's helped my daughter, my son, and my wife and all of our friends with the efforts of locating me," Bieger told reporters Monday. Bieger's family says he suffered from a bout of amnesia brought on by a seizure. For three weeks, he wandered around Texas, eventually showing up at a house he and his wife planned to buy 30 miles from their Dallas home. "I was worried I was going to get hit by a car or hit in the head or fall and not be able to get back," he said. Bieger's is the second high-profile case of amnesia in recent weeks. On Oct. 23, Jeffrey Ingram, also known as "Al" and "Amnesia Man," was identified in Denver. Ingram had vanished from Olympia, Wash., in September and was suffering from dissociative fugue a condition in which the victim doesn't know who he is. Bieger has gone missing before, but never for this long. Doctors say that he has global amnesia and that his latest bout may have been more severe than usual because he didn't have his anti-seizure medication. His high school team was so distraught by his disappearance, it canceled its season. Now, its beloved coach is back and doing well. "I'm home now, and I couldn't be happier," Bieger said. "I feel fine. I feel absolutely fine."

Your brother would be so pleased you decided to go on. In our neighborhood many years ago the teens were scary, the dropped off kids so many, etc. that we stopped the practice. And of course last night I was in no condition to be answering the door.
