Look at it like it's a new pet? I think I'd prefer insect eating bats to the damn roaches that come in here looking for water.

I read recently about whole towns in the south that have ancient structures FULL of bats, to the point where the smell of bat urine and guano is ever-present. And you can't kill them -- they're protected, or something. Swell. You did good trapping it with a box, though... A bat in my house right about now would probably send me to the hospital in hysterics, things are just so rotten so much of the time...

I am by no means a "sissy", but EWWWWWWW!!!! A mouse, ok. Birds, squirrels, and possums, I've had to deal with (crawling under the porch to pull them out wasn't much fun), but bats are too close to rats. I hope they aren't in your attic--since apparently they're protected, you can't let loose with hammers and boots to stomp them to death.

I know feel bad for the bat isn't going to cut it with you - not at this time in your life Steph, and you have my wholehearted sympathies just now.. but awwwww, the poor little (starving) thing! I know I know... how would I like it? I wouldn't - a mouse in the house turned my house upside down once, and a mouse running across the hearth in a cottage we rented in England one year ruined the whole rest of my holiday that year... I just wish there were something, like a scent of something, that you could put around your house that tells them they are not wanted...

AAAGGGHHHH! Snakes are #1 on my hate list - then bats. What was God thinking when he created these horrible beasties?
