I have a love/hate relationship with Best Buy myself. Some times we go there, to the store, and everthing is great, plenty of help that know something, plenty of cashiers etc, then, other times, no body that knows anything. I did buy gift cards from them online this year too and my transaction turned out okay, but you never know. Many of the grocery stores, and Walgreen's drugstores around here sell gift cards to other stores and I'm pretty sure I've seen Best Buy cards there. Any chance someone in your household could run out and get you a couple? Then, they can also get you whatever you still need for your gathering as well, maybe?

CVS also sells gift cards for many different merchants (although I don't know if BestBuy happens to be one of them). Isn't it amazing how some companies can totally screw up just about anything?

I only go to Best Buy if there's absolutely no other alternative. Why not wrap up a big BB logo from an ad flyer with a note that says "Preview of Coming Attractions!" on it? I'm sure the recipients will understand.

I'm with Mary. The recipients will definitely understand. I be you've probably already given it way more thought than they will when they see their "IOU"!

Gee I hope the people at the wrong address can't use them.

This was something that you really did not need this year. I hope that you and yur family have a much better Christmas day, and that the New Year will be good to you.

Best Buy...it is always my last resort too..although I have never done anything online with them. Everytime we went to the store to buy something that was on sale..they were out of it..had plenty of the more expensive versions (and pushed them at you) but never the on sale ones. I agree with Mary..I am sure those who were to receive them will understand when you explain it to them. I hope the coming year will be better to you than this one has Steph. ::::HUGS::::

I also have had a love/hate relationship with Best Buy. More hate than love, too. That is where I bought my computer and it was a week before I could actually use it after I purchased it thanks to their ineptitude. I swore I would NEVER buy anything there again. Then, as others above, as a last resort, I went there for something else, I needed expert assistance in hooking up a DVD player that plays international DVD's - and the two young men who assisted me knew their stuff, and I was in and out of there, with all the proper items, in 10 minutes. So go figure. I've never done business with them on-line either, so can't comment. But they are a strange company. That's for sure. I like the idea, too, of making a pseudo-gift card (on the computer) and giving that in an envelope. If they ever make a movie called "The Good Mother" - it should be out YOU!

This is way after the fact, but I had similar problems with Barnes & Noble's site and wound up canceling an order because it was messed up so badly. Maybe some stores aren't equipped to handle the holiday load adequately? Anyway, I might rethink doing so much of my Christmas shopping online next year (which sucks because I DID like the convenience).
