I'm sure you will get a lot of benefit from that study. Acceptance is the first step to moving on...but only time will heal your pain. Your in my thoughts and prayers.

Being here the whole while your brother first went missing, and then after you learned his fate, and well after that, and seeing how tormented you have been, not to mention all your family, it gives me much more insight into the incredible pain that so many families and friends have been going thru whenever a loved one dies at a young (or unexpected) age. To think of all the families of military men and women who have lost their lives in this war, and brothers and sisters who are kidnapped and never come home. Multiply all your pain by thousands and probably millions, and it's almost overwhelming to think of it all. So many of us just go about our little lives oblivious of the pain others feel. I think being able to read about and share your experience has helped to open a few doors in understanding for some of us. I know it has done so for me. Thank you for always being to willing to share.

I'm very pleased to hear of your victory regarding the thrift shop problem. You certainly expressed yourself successfully! I hope your participation in the study will help you and also help others.

The study sounds like a good idea. The intensity of the type of loss you experienced requires something more than other's who grieve for a loved one who has passed as the result of more natural causes. Your willingness to participate is very admirable. As for the thrift shop..... excellent results!

Brava! for participating in the study, although it will dredge up physical/emotional "stuff", it will be useful for both yourself and others. Yay! on the fact that your letter has done some good. This was a much better solution than going the Springer/Maury route! ;-)

I hope that joining the Bereavement group will eventually "allow" you to remember the wonderful memories of your brother's childhood without having to push them away.
